The Acredita Portugal Entrepreneurship contest received more than 18 thousand applications in this edition. Among the projects submitted to the competition there is a significant percentage of candidates enrolled in the IEFP.
Lisbon, May 29, 2015 - The Acredita Portugal Entrepreneurship contest selected its 21 finalist projects, among the more than 18 thousand applications received. More than 30% of the 18.702 projects in this edition were developed by unemployed candidates registered with the IEFP, as a result of a partnership established between Associação Acredita Portugal and the public agency.
For João Gonçalo Cunha, CEO of Acredita Portugal, “This contest exists as a platform to allow individuals with an entrepreneurial spirit to test their projects before moving on to the market, and the answer to this opportunity could not be clearer. The number of ideas submitted has been steadily increasing and this year we registered an increase of more than 30% compared to the number of projects in last year's edition. This level of participation makes this initiative the largest Entrepreneurship contest in the world and attests to the relevance of an initiative of this nature in the Portuguese reality. That is why the association was also distinguished with the High Sponsorship of the President of the Republic ”.
The more than 18 thousand applications gave rise to 1.501 business plans that integrated two competitions: the Make Your Dream Come True with the categories of Commerce and Services, Industry and Social Entrepreneurship; it's the InovPortugal with the New Ideas, Web / Mobile and High Technology categories. Additionally, a new feature was introduced this year, the Brisa Mobility Award.
The 21 finalists in competition are in the mentoring, a process that culminates next Monday, June 1, with the moment of pitch to the jury and investors. The winners are announced on the 5th of June, at the Acredita Portugal Gala, which will take place at the Lisbon Congress Center.
