Crisis Situations: 3 New Scenarios
The development of new technologies, in particular social networks, brought countless opportunities in terms of communication. However, it also led to the emergence of new potential outbreaks of crisis situations. Here they stay three examples:
- On Twitter it is quite common for rumors to appear without any basis. This type of communications can quickly go viral and create a crisis situation that jeopardizes the reputation of the organization in question.
- The theft and misuse of private and sensitive information present in these networks is today one of the potential crisis situations for which an organization must prepare. Although it is not possible to fully protect your brand against this type of situation, it is extremely important for a company to know how to prepare its employees in a preventive way and, at the same time, think about what to do if it is the victim of such a situation.
- A brand is involved in a crisis situation related to sensitive issues, such as sexual harassment or issues related to gender equality. In these types of situations, it is extremely important to know exactly what message you want to convey. Currently, nothing that is written or said can be erased. One statement poorly written or a less thoughtful post on a social network can result in irreparable damage to a company's reputation.
In communication, and especially when we are talking about its digital aspect, we have to measure with great accuracy what we are going to say and how we are going to do it.
