GS1 Portugal debates consumer experience in the era of digital transformation

Digital Engagement Forum

Digital Engagement Forum

Adaptation of all interlocutors to culture, skills and digital platforms at the Digital Engagement Forum

GS1 Portugal - Codipor is preparing to hold the 5th edition of the Digital Engagement Forum, dedicated to the theme “Consumer Journeys: The Consumer at the Center of Digital Transformation ”. The initiative brings together speakers and leading entities from the business and academic worlds to address the challenges, opportunities and trends in terms of adapting consumers, companies and universities to the digital age. The event takes place, on July 11, at the headquarters of GS1 Portugal - Codipor, in Lisbon.

The Digital Engagement Forum will allow you to discuss successful cases of innovation and digital transformation. Examples of training of human resources and companies, technological solutions and innovative e-commerce platforms will be presented, as well as models for interpreting consumer behavior. Guest speakers include, for example, Manuel Dias, Technical Sales Director, Microsoft, and Miguel Moreira, Advisor to the Digital Business Center at Nova SBE.

The issues associated with the digital transformation observed in the market and its impact on the relationship between the offer of products and services and the consumer demand changes in strategy and attitude that go beyond the IT department and the use of technology in a corporate context. The first step on the path to optimizing “digital” opportunities begins with positioning, process planning and the companies' business model.

The growing adoption of mobile devices, such as smartphones, tablets and laptops, generates new opportunities, resulting in the need for greater convergence between the physical and online worlds. It is essential to create a unique and integrated experience among all channels for the consumer - omnichannel.

Bearing this context in mind, GS1 Portugal - Codipor signed, in 2017, an agreement with COTEC, within the scope of the 'Industry 4.0 Program - National Strategy for the Digitization of the Economy', and since then, has actively participated as a full member Strategic Committee of the Portugal Indústria 4.0 Platform. The Committee's mission is to coordinate, monitor and evaluate the execution of the Industry 4.0 Program, which aims to accelerate the transition of Portuguese industry towards the adoption of higher levels of technological intensity and greater competitiveness. The objective of GS1 Portugal, within the scope of this partnership, is to support Portuguese companies in the respective process of digital transformation, through measures and initiatives that enhance digitalization. The Digital Engagement Forum contributes precisely to this purpose.

João de Castro Guimarães, Executive Director of GS1 Portugal - Codipor, defines the initiative as an opportunity to “Continue to respond to the challenges of the National Strategy for the Digitization of the Economy. It is another contribution to the sharing of knowledge and a reflection of the mission of GS1 Portugal as an entity that facilitates contact between all stakeholders in the value chain - producers, distributors, stockists, consumers, decision makers, the academic world and other institutional partners. The digital world is today an unavoidable, dynamic reality, in constant transformation. We want to collaborate in the training of Portuguese companies, their procedures and internal resources, whether technological or human, so that they optimize their performance in this context. Bearing in mind our constant purpose of identifying and implementing solutions that improve efficiency and increase business security, traceability and sustainability, the Digital Engagement Forum, like other initiatives of this type, includes a dimension of sharing experience and know-how, integrated in a global objective of helping companies to anticipate and face new requirements in a constantly changing environment ”.
