The Minister of Finance highlighted the important role of auditors in ensuring confidence in the economy and the credibility of companies.<\/strong><\/p>\n<p><strong>Lisbon, January 5, 2018<\/strong> \u2013 The mission of Certified Public Accountants (CPAs) lies in strengthening market confidence and contributing to the public interest. This was the central message conveyed in the speeches delivered during the inauguration ceremony for the new OROC governing bodies for the 2018\u20132020 term. The ceremony, which took place today in Lisbon, was attended by Finance Minister M\u00e1rio Centeno.<\/p>\n<p>In his speech, the Minister of Finance emphasized the <em>\u201ca very important role\u201d<\/em> that the profession of Certified Public Accountant will continue to play an important role in economic and social terms, and it is impossible to imagine how the economy could function <em>\u201cwithout a professional class to carry out financial auditing\u201d<\/em>. Assuming that, in Portugal, <em>\u201cThe severity of the financial crisis has shaken market confidence\u201d<\/em>, the work of the Reviewers <em>\u201cIt has been essential for boosting confidence in economies and for strengthening the credibility of companies\u201d<\/em>, namely <em>\u201celements essential to economic growth, investment, and the development of financial instrument markets.\u201d.<\/em><\/p>\n<p><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignleft wp-image-10453 size-medium\" src=\"https:\/\/say-u.pt\/wp-content\/uploads\/2018\/01\/Jose_Rodrigues_de_Jesus-152x300.jpg\" alt=\"Jose_Rodrigues_de_Jesus\" width=\"152\" height=\"300\" \/>The contribution of the ROC\u2019s activities to the public interest is echoed by Jos\u00e9 Rodrigues de Jesus, the new President of the OROC, who outlines a framework for <em>\u201cmarket hypersensitivity, sophisticated trading practices, dematerialization and digitization, technological innovation in processes, and new models of modern management\u201d<\/em> which requires <em>\u201cHighly qualified professionals whose knowledge is constantly updated, backed by impeccable standards and models\u201d<\/em> in pursuit of the <em>\u201cthe profession\u2019s path toward social utility\u201d<\/em>. Where \u201ca <em>\u201cThe credibility of financial information is a social good of unquestionable necessity.\"<\/em>, OROC is committed to investing in the improvement of auditing practices by sharing <em>\u201cthis effort involving all parties responsible for the quality of financial information\u201d<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p>The action plan established for OROC for the three-year period now beginning comprises four complementary areas: <strong>the promotion of an open and collaborative dialogue<\/strong> with public entities and regulatory and supervisory authorities, with a view to strengthening its position as a partner in a transparent market; the development of mechanisms that provide <strong>greater social and economic recognition of the profession<\/strong> in order to attract more young people with additional and better skills; the maintenance of <strong>a framework for continuous improvement<\/strong> the quality of the services provided, as a guarantee of credibility with companies, public entities, regulators, and others, in the public interest; and <strong>the expansion of professional training<\/strong>, so that the regulatory, technical, and ethical aspects of the activity are taken into account and the rapid pace of technological change is incorporated.<\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/say-u.pt\/en\/\">Say U Consulting<\/a><\/strong><\/p>","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Jos\u00e9 Rodrigues de Jesus tomou hoje posse como novo Baston\u00e1rio da Ordem dos Revisores Oficiais de Contas (OROC) para o tri\u00e9nio 2018-2020.
