The Statutory Auditors are meeting in Congress for another wide-ranging discussion on the challenges facing the profession, its connection to the context of Auditing and the analysis of good practices in the sector. The debate on the present and future of the profession, which takes place on September 15 and 16 in Lisbon, will be attended by the President of the Republic, the Minister of Finance and the Minister of the Economy.<\/strong><\/p>\n

Lisbon, September 5th, 2016<\/strong> - The Statutory Auditors (ROC) are meeting in Congress, in an event that will be attended by the President of the Republic, as well as the Minister of Finance, M\u00e1rio Centeno and the Minister of the Economy, Manuel Caldeira Cabral. Under the theme \u201cAuditing in Supervision\u201d, the XII ROC Congress will take place on September 15 and 16 at the F\u00f3rum Lisboa in Lisbon.<\/p>\n

For Jos\u00e9 Azevedo Rodrigues, President of the Portuguese Institute of Statutory Auditors (OROC), \u201chis year's edition of the Statutory Auditor's Congress aims to reflect on the current state of Auditing and Supervision, at a time of global supervision and in the face of an active logic of democratic control by society over public and private institutions. As auditing is one of the areas of supervision, it is necessary to reflect on the various elements that influence it, drawing lessons and teaching how it is possible to carry out cross-control of different institutions in the national economy. As an organization that is open to best practices and which has always been guided by rigour, trust and evolution in the work of auditors, this initiative is essential to promote this debate between professionals in the sector, their leaders, managers and the context in which auditing has its place.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n

The event will feature panels of speakers, with the participation of great personalities from a wide range of areas, who will address issues of economics, corporate governance, information technology, markets and information, the public sector, the public interest, behaviour, in short, the challenges of the auditor, in a discussion that encompasses the evolution and relevance of the activity of auditing, as well as issues of professional organization, inclusion in national and international supervisory institutions, technologies to support the practice of the profession and reflection on the work of the professional.<\/p>\n
