Low resistance tires cover more kilometers

Vehicles with this type of engine have very large rims: Euromaster reminds us of the importance of choosing tire material.

Lisbon, October 10th - According to the European Automobile Manufacturers Association (ACEA), only 0.8% of the 5.4 million cars on Portuguese roads every day are 100% electric. Even so, there has been an exponential increase in this type of motorization between January and July. This growth in electric car sales amounted to 119.5%. According to ACEA data, 2,697 electric 100% cars were registered in Portugal.

Despite these figures, there is still a great deal of ignorance about this motorization. Perhaps many people don't know that with a low rolling resistance tire, an electric car can travel 30% more kilometers, according to the Euromaster, a network of workshops specializing in comprehensive vehicle maintenance.

Electric vehicles

A big difference between electric vehicles and conventional cars is their weight, so it's important to use tires that are suited to this characteristic, with greater resistance and lateral rigidity. Due to the absence of noise from the engine, the tires on these vehicles must be quieter.

The torque of an electric vehicle also means that the tires have more grip. Another fact we notice when we see electric vehicle tires is that they are thin. The reason is simple: the smaller the width, the smaller the contact surface with the asphalt, which translates into lower energy consumption. It is therefore important to choose specific tires, and the Euromaster workshop network is able to help with these decisions.

To guarantee weight resistance, electric vehicle tires are made with a compound that allows them to support a large mass of weight. In this regard, it should be remembered that cars with this type of propulsion technology are very heavy compared to equivalent combustion models. The reason? The battery, a technical component that represents a very important part of the total weight of a vehicle of this type.

The environmental issue in electric vehicles is often associated only with the motorization, forgetting about the tires. It's important to opt for tires made from recycled material, which is very common among manufacturers premium.
