Consulting | Mazars launches new offer in Portugal

Mazars Portugal adds Consulting to its offerconsulting

As part of the firm's global commitment, Mazars in Portugal brings together an area of Consulting to its offer, integrating a new team and counting on Rui Lavado, the new Head of Consulting, to lead it.

Lisbon, January 22nd, 2020 - Mazars, the international auditing and consulting firm, is preparing to launch a new line of services in Portugal in the Consulting area, based on the complementary axes of Strategy and Transformation, Organization and Performance, and IT and Digital. This is part of Mazars' global strategic agenda and follows in the footsteps of the firm's other offices, which already have this offer consolidated in their portfolio.

This area has been the target of investment by Mazars at an international level, as exemplified by the recent appointment of 35 Partners and recruitment of 500 professionals to develop the Consulting of Mazars in the Indian market, a strategy that is repeated in other geographies and of which Portugal is an example.

The development of the Consulting in Portugal will take place through the integration of a multidisciplinary team of professionals with high seniority and breadth of skills in the areas of Management, Finance, Economics and Technology led by Rui Lavado, with more than 25 years of experience in projects in the financial sector, telecommunications, health and the public sector, in Portugal and abroad, as a consultant in strategy and management, technology and the digital domain.

The experience and know-how brought by each of the professionals who make up this team reinforces most of the classic services typically included in a consultancy practice, such as strategy, operations and technology. In addition, they bring a very special focus to areas of increasing importance, including digital and the associated transformation processes; emerging technologies (e.g. information and data analytics, artificial intelligence or the Internet of Things); sustainability, the environment and social responsibility, including the practical need to guarantee human dignity through inclusion and respect for diversity.

Luís Gaspar, Managing Partner of Mazars in Portugal, justifies the decision with the dual objective of "increase the efficiency and relevance of customer interactions and enable consulting services to generate an increased share of revenue. With this new line, Mazars aims to progressively strengthen its team in terms of numbers and skills, creating a new area that is part of the Mazars Group's service offer but which until now did not exist in Portugal. This integration, in addition to reinforcing the existing range of services, allows us to increase the level of service we offer. cross selling with other business areas and opens up new horizons for Mazars' operations in the domestic market. The expectation is to quadruple the resources in this area over the next two years, complementing the specialized offer already made available by Mazars to its corporate clients in Portugal."

Rui Lavado, Head of Consulting and responsible for the new area of Consulting of Mazars, explains the positive response to this challenge by the fact that Mazars "Both nationally and internationally, we are investing heavily in the development of our Consulting services line. This is an exceptional platform for fulfilling a desire to expand the scope of the services available to the market, as well as to increase the size of this business area and further exceed the already high level of quality in responding to our clients' challenges. This orientation is fully shared between me, Mazars' management and the rest of the Consulting team who are accompanying me in this integration."

For the new head of the area, the following also stand out "the effectively integrated nature of the firm at a global level, which allows us to easily develop and exploit synergies and offer more robust services and solutions to our clients, and the objectivity and competence of the Mazars management team in Portugal, which was evident as the integration planning process unfolded."

The expansion of Mazars' offer in Portugal is part of a strategic plan aimed at strengthening the firm's operations and growth, with the goal of occupying the fifth position in the national auditing and consultancy market and a progressive balance between audit and non-audit service results, sustained by the faster growth of this second area of activity.
