MAP Virtual Week: Entrepreneurship in the post-Covid-19 era

Entrepreneurship in the post-Covid era

Entrepreneurship post-COVID-19

MAP Virtual Week kicked off with a discussion on the impact of the Covid-19 pandemic among businesses and entrepreneurs and the role of the social economy in a context of new challenges.

André de Aragão Azevedo, Secretary of State for the Digital Transition, today opened the MAP Virtual Week, a week of debates on Entrepreneurship organized by Acredita Portugal. The minister recognized in the initiative an example of perseverance and belief in the future and in the construction of an increasingly better country, associating the digital and diruption character of the event with a digital path to be undertaken by the Government to enhance the recognition of Portugal as a strongly innovative country and a new country. startup nation.

The first day of debate was dedicated to the impact of Covid-19 on Portuguese companies and how startups and SMEs can face and survive a second wave of the pandemic, in a panel that included the participation of Startup Portugal, Mazars, IAPMEI and Turismo de Portugal, along with the identification of opportunities brought about by the economic and health crisis and how they can be explored over the next few years (Core Angels, Special Edition & Bravegeneration, Portugal Ventures and FNABA). Business success was currently associated with resilience, based on the ability to identify opportunities and take advantage of circumstances to accelerate innovation.

The discussion continued with a reflection on the future of the social economy in Portugal by stakeholders in the area (Portugal Inovação Social, Instituto Padre António Vieira, Fundação Aga Khan Portugal and Banco Montepio). In view of the changes taking place in the sector and the possibilities of adapting to a new reality, the emphasis was placed on the capacity for collaboration. In a scenario of uncertainty, it becomes imperative to monetize resources and make use of the social economy network to address a new framework of needs.

The initiative continues tomorrow with the issue of digital transformation, the preparation of companies for "Economy 3.0" and the impact of new technologies on traditional businesses, the challenges facing the internationalization of companies in Portugal in a world that is increasingly digital and what happens to entrepreneurs after the "exit" of a project.

MAP Virtual Week presentations, debates and sharing will run until next Sunday, October 18, in online format. Find out more about entrepreneurship post-Covid.
