GS1 Portugal debates consumer experience in the era of digital transformation

Digital Engagement Forum

Digital Engagement Forum

Adaptation of all interlocutors to digital culture, skills and platforms in the Digital Engagement Forum

GS1 Portugal - Codipor is preparing to hold the 5th edition of the Digital Engagement Forum, dedicated to the theme "Consumer JourneyThe Consumer at the Center of Digital Transformation". The initiative brings together leading speakers from the business and academic worlds to address the challenges, opportunities and trends in terms of adapting consumers, companies and universities to the digital age. The event takes place on July 11 at the GS1 Portugal - Codipor headquarters in Lisbon.

The Digital Engagement Forum will discuss success stories in terms of innovation and digital transformation. Examples of training human resources and companies, innovative technological solutions and e-commerce platforms, as well as models for interpreting consumer behavior will be presented. Guest speakers include Manuel Dias, Technical Sales Director at Microsoft, and Miguel Moreira, Advisor at Nova SBE's Digital Business Center.

The issues associated with the digital transformation taking place in the market and its impact on the relationship between the supply of products and services and the consumer require changes in strategy and attitude that go beyond the IT department and the use of technology in a corporate context. The first step on the road to optimizing "digital" opportunities begins with positioning, process planning and the company's business model.

The growing adoption of mobile devices such as smartphones, tablets and laptops creates new opportunities, resulting in the need for greater convergence between the physical and online worlds. It is essential to create a single, integrated experience for the consumer across all channels - omnichannel.

Bearing this context in mind, in 2017 GS1 Portugal - Codipor signed an agreement with COTEC within the scope of the 'Industry 4.0 Programme - National Strategy for the Digitalization of the Economy', and has since become an active member of the Strategic Committee of the Portugal Industry 4.0 Platform. The mission of this Committee is to coordinate, monitor and evaluate the implementation of the Industry 4.0 Program, which aims to accelerate the transition of Portuguese industry to adopt higher levels of technological intensity and greater competitiveness. The aim of GS1 Portugal, within the scope of this partnership, is to support Portuguese companies in their digital transformation process, through measures and initiatives that boost digitalization. The Digital Engagement Forum contributes precisely to this purpose.

João de Castro Guimarães, Executive Director of GS1 Portugal - Codipor, defines the initiative as an opportunity to "to continue to respond to the challenges of the National Strategy for the Digitalization of the Economy. It's another contribution to sharing knowledge and a reflection of GS1 Portugal's mission as an entity that facilitates contact between all the players in the value chain - producers, distributors, stockists, consumers, decision-makers, the academic world and other institutional interlocutors. Today's digital world is an unavoidable, dynamic and constantly changing reality. We want to collaborate in training Portuguese companies, their procedures and internal resources, both technological and human, so that they can optimize their performance in this context. Bearing in mind our constant aim of identifying and implementing solutions that improve efficiency and increase the security, traceability and sustainability of business, the Digital Engagement Forum, like other initiatives of this type, includes a dimension of sharing experience and know-how, integrated into an overall objective of helping companies to anticipate and face new requirements in a constantly changing environment.".
