Charity Auction to Support Doctors of the World

Solidarity Auction

Solidarity Auction

"Solidarity Auction | We Value What's Valuable" to support Médicos do Mundo's mission marks the start of Santo Eloy Auction House's activity. This is an initiative of social responsibility and proximity to the community, in a crisis scenario that has left disadvantaged populations even more fragile.

Leiloeira Santo Eloy, which specializes in jewelry, especially gold, silver, jewelry, watches and precious stones, and which started its activity in December, is supporting the mission of the Doctors of the World Association with a charity auction to be held in the first half of March 2021.

The aim of the "Solidarity Auction | We Value What's Valuable" is to raise funds to provide health care to people in need in the areas of HIV/AIDS, chronic and debilitating diseases, mental health, psychosocial support and social exclusion. To this end, 5% of the total proceeds from the auction will go to Médecins du Monde.

This social initiative aims to have a catalog of pieces of Gold, Silver, Jewelry, Watches and Precious Stones that can be received until the end of January 2021 and its dissemination is intended to raise more pieces from interested individuals.

"Leiloeira Santo Eloy believes that the post-COVID world will demand greater transparency and trust, and that's why we have to be present and active in a differentiated way, with an impactful and purposeful stance. Recognizing the importance of creating and managing beneficial relationships between companies and the surrounding community, and because we share Médicos do Mundo's values and mission, it made perfect sense for us to join this cause in our first activity."explains José Baptista, founder of Leiloeira Santo Eloy.

The partnership, "at first sight unlikely"This is how Fernando Vasco, President of Médecins du Monde in Portugal, defines it, "is born of a common reason. Both Santo Eloy and Médecins du Monde want to give value to what has value, whether it's Life or pieces of history. This shared goal, which is Santo Eloy's recognition that the challenges affecting our community concern all of us and deserve a collaborative response, thus has its first action together with this charity auction."

In a scenario that few, if anyone, could have envisaged, the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic has exacerbated the shortcomings already felt in society and further weakened the situation of populations at risk, forcing nations, markets, organizations, families and individuals to unexpectedly and suddenly slow down and rethink their purpose.

With the patron saint of goldsmiths, Saint Eloy, at its roots, the auction house has turned this model of service to the underprivileged and the community into a model of attention to pressing issues in society. Against a backdrop of widespread difficulties and the damaging effects of the pandemic, the auction house's activity began with an action aimed at supporting concrete solutions for those populations who find themselves in the most fragile situation.
