Alternation extends tire life of industrial vehicles in 20%. TireCheck program presented at the National Transportation Show.
Lisbon, July 21, 2023 - By using predictive maintenance, transport companies can save an average of more than €6,000 a year by increasing tire performance, saving fuel and avoiding unexpected downtime, according to the company. Euromaster, a network of workshops specialized in comprehensive vehicle maintenance, based on the real case of a fleet of 43 vehicles.
To do this, there are a number of actions that allow the tires to be optimized, such as alternating the vehicle's tires so that wear is evenly distributed between the front and rear tires, thus increasing their useful life by 20%, i.e. saving almost €4,000 per year.
Another action is re-sculpting, which involves removing the existing rubber layer to restore tread depth. This allows the truck to travel up to 25% more kilometers on the same tires, as well as increasing the rubber's grip on the asphalt and therefore reducing fuel consumption. All this means a saving for the fleet of more than €2,000 per year.
In this way, proactive preventive maintenance actions minimize the possible economic costs generated by an incident or temporary immobilization of the vehicle, since for both a fleet and an independent carrier, being out of service means losing money.
This is all part of Euromaster's TireCheck program in Portugal, recently unveiled at the Salão Nacional do Transporte in Pombal, which also includes repairing punctures whenever possible and checking tire pressure, extending tire life to 25%, as well as reducing fuel consumption and avoiding unwanted downtime.
Predictive tire maintenance is among the top concerns of fleets, along with safety (of drivers, vehicle and cargo), better cost optimization, productivity (fewer stops and more trips) and punctuality (goods always delivered on time).
