A atenção devida ao desgaste dos pneus pode aumentar uma condução em condições ótimas em mais 25% de quilómetros. Euromaster recomenda uma verificação a cada três meses.
Lisbon, December 7th - Proper monitoring and maintenance of the condition of commercial vehicle tires can reduce costs by more than 6,400 euros per year for an average transport fleet (around 40 vehicles), according to data from Euromaster, a network of workshops specializing in comprehensive vehicle maintenance.
By monitoring the condition of the tires, it is possible to carry out predictive maintenance and anticipate the needs of each of the trucks in a fleet, thus anticipating possible problems. In fact, it is possible to extend the life of the tires and save on spare parts, as well as avoid breakdowns caused by tire wear and other possible unforeseen events.
Monitoring results in a reduction of up to 70% in unexpected stops and roadside assistance caused by tires, such as punctures, which are detected in 5% of the preventive inspections carried out, thus avoiding the immobilization of the vehicle with the corresponding costs in time and money for the company.
Another intervention that can generate savings for professional vehicles is shaving the tires, a simple maintenance operation that can allow the vehicle to travel 25% more kilometers in optimal conditions, improving its grip and water evacuation, which translates into lower rolling resistance and lower fuel consumption.
Likewise, replacing the tires to even out wheel wear can also extend their useful life, increasing the number of kilometers that can be driven in good conditions by up to 20% and improving their grip on the road, reducing braking distance.
Euromaster therefore recommends that tires be checked every three months to prevent excessive wear and ultimately avoid higher parts and repair costs.
