Gone are the days when we used to send press releases to an entire list of media outlets. The days of independence between an organization’s sales, IT, marketing, and HR departments are also over. Groups such as suppliers, customers, the community, environmental groups, and employees have a stake in the actions of organizations, and most companies need to take these stakeholders and their influence into account. As these external factors become a key element in a company’s ability to operate successfully, it is in the company’s best interest to take a proactive role in informing these groups about its strategy, actions, and corporate policies. This also means creating new avenues where Public Relations can play a role.
