In line with the growth of the senior segment and the increasing importance of this population’s needs, Comfort Keepers hopes to strengthen its market position through specialized services, certified processes, and a greater focus on nursing care. This strategy is expected to generate revenue of 4,500M€ in 2015.
Lisbon, July 27, 2015 – In conjunction with a domestic market expansion policy that aligns with the growth trend of the senior population in Portugal, Comfort Keepers—a world-leading organization in the field of in-home care—is pursuing a strategy of service diversification by introducing solutions that complement basic care for individuals with greater care needs – “Lar em Casa”: Nursing and Post-Hospital Care Services. The redefinition of the domestic market positioning strategy is expected to generate 4,500M€ in revenue by the end of the year, representing a 36% increase compared to last year (3,300M€). The effort to improve our offerings and processes is reflected in the organization’s receipt this month of ISO 9001 certification for Quality Management Systems.
For Jorge Monteiro, Managing Director of Comfort Keepers Portugal, “Portugal’s aging population is growing faster than its working-age population. This trend is accompanied by the fact that this is the first generation of individuals to reach retirement age with higher purchasing power and a fully embraced desire to maintain an active and independent lifestyle. The range of services offered by Comfort Keepers is part of an effort to adequately address these needs through personalized solutions tailored to each individual case, with the aim of supplementing the inability of the government and nongovernmental organizations to meet these needs and serving as an alternative to solutions based on the informal economy, which remains prevalent in the sector.”.
The services provided—which currently reach more than 3,000 users through a network of 600 caregivers—include services tailored to different segments. Home Care Services, designed to meet basic, medical, and hospital-related needs and to provide companionship for the elderly and dependent individuals; continuous nursing care aimed at addressing the health issues of people whose conditions are not complex enough to require institutionalization; assistance for young parents in their daily activities to help them adjust to the arrival of a new family member; Solutions for Employers, designed to minimize the impact on employee performance when they are trying to care for an elderly family member.
The high standards associated with Comfort Keepers’ operations help explain the organization’s growth, which has been made possible by its particular focus on training its professionals, its commitment to specialized services, and its investment in information technology for the processes it implements.
The home care company has 10 active offices in Portugal, located in 15 districts on the mainland and the islands, and is part of a network of franchising an international company with more than 700 locations in 8 countries (Australia, Canada, the U.S., France, Ireland, Portugal, the United Kingdom, and Singapore).
