Ecommerce

Ecommerce is the fastest growing activity on mobile and the digital giants have been paying attention to this growing trend. How?
Google has been expanding its ad platform for commerce and Amazon is betting more and more on advertising. Facebook has also made its debut with recommendations for ecommerce.
Is time money?
The truth is that today, as consumers and regular users of the digital world, we are increasingly looking to make the most of our time. According to the National Statistics Institute, in 2010 only 15% of Portuguese people shopped online. In 2018 this number grew to 37% (people aged between 16 and 74).
This growing trend towards making the most of time, making it easier to share and search for locations, reducing the difficulties imposed by different time zones, making channels available every day (anywhere and at any time) has changed industries and predicts major transformations in all sectors of commerce.
The advertising sector has been one of the most affected by this whole transformation and digital revolution, and it is much easier to search for a service or product online than in traditional offline media or even on television. The data shows that mobile is the future of commerce and that the future of the advertising market is in the hands of the user.
As a result of these changes, brands have tried to adapt to this new reality and investing in online commerce is no longer optional.
Nowadays, to be in the top of mind of consumers, brands must be able to be present in their daily lives through their presence on their privileged channels: the social media.
With the help of support tools, which are increasingly analytical and intelligent, it's possible to see which channel will be the most suitable for reaching a particular audience and promoting a particular product or service more successfully.
According to Mary Meeker's 2019 digital trends report, investment in targeted advertising for mobile in 2018 was 26% higher than the previous year and the trend is upwards.
The figures speak for themselves and you can see a decrease in investment in print advertising of around 9%, radio (-9%), television (-26%) and desktop (-20%).
The advertising industry has changed and brands have to adapt. The future is bright for e-commerce in mobile. After all, who doesn't like having the information they're looking for available “in the palm of their hand”?
