Facebook Continues to Exceed Market Expectations

Facebook surpassed the impressive mark of $171 per share in after-hours trading, an all-time high for the social network.

Most of this revenue came from advertising, which grew even more—47%—and totaled $9.1 billion.

“We had a good second quarter and a good first half of the year,” Zuckerberg summarized during the earnings call. “Our community now has two billion people, and we’re focused on bringing the world even closer together.” – Zuckerberg summarized during the earnings call.

Right now, Facebook is investing in original television content. And although it’s not yet known for sure, rumors suggest that a new product will be launched in August.

What we know now is that ads will appear on messaging platforms in other formats—not as video. Zuckerberg clarified. “It’s much more of a long-term thing. I think that in the coming years, the biggest driver of the business—and the key factor in our results—will be video, not Messenger.”
