Lisbon, February 10, 2023 – On March 8, International Women’s Day, Coletivo 284 will open the third edition of the IMPERFEITA exhibition. The exhibition of paintings, sculptures, and installations will be on view through April 16 at the 284 Gallery in Lisbon. It is open to the public on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays from 2:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Admission is free.
IMPERFEITA 1.3 is a group exhibition featuring works by three dozen artists of various nationalities, selected through a combination of invitations and open submissions. The theme for the previous two years was Frida Kahlo, and the exhibition’s tagline was ‘It is through our imperfection that we become unique.’.
This year, in tribute to the Art of Being a Woman, the exhibition spotlights a contemporary cultural icon who embodies the freedom to choose how one ages and who challenges age stereotypes, constantly reminding us that age is not what defines a woman. “Age does not define us” is the tagline for IMPERFEITA 1.3.
“The Imperfect” emerged from a contest organized by Coletivo 284 with the aim of honoring women. Opening on International Women’s Day, the exhibition features a diverse and dynamic cultural program tailored to a wide range of audiences of all ages, incorporating technology and innovation—some works incorporate augmented reality, while others are created using artificial intelligence and then “edited” by human artists.
The event also has an inclusive aspect, featuring works by artists supported by various social organizations—AFID and the LIGA Foundation—with all proceeds from the sale going to these institutions.
IMPERFEITA is curated by Adriana Scartaris, a professional with 35 years of experience whose curatorial approach is motivational and guiding, inspiring what has not yet been done.
This provocation lies at the heart of Coletivo 284, whose mission is to raise questions and stir unease, challenging people to step outside their comfort zone and do something new.
