January 4, 2022, Lisbon: A Mazars, a leading international audit, tax, and consulting firm, has expanded its executive team. There are seven new members at Mazars in Portugal: Pedro Jesus (International Partner), Celso Fernandes and Paulo Pereira (Directors), Olivier Pilot Debienne, Pedro Cruz, Ricardo Nunes, and Rute Pereira (Local Partners).

Mazars' New Partners and Executive Directors

Pedro Jesus He holds a bachelor's degree in Business Organization and Management from the ISCTE. He began his professional career in 2003 in the field of management consulting. He initially worked on preparing investment projects for submission to support programs under the European Union’s Third Community Support Framework. He joined Mazars in September 2004. After gaining experience as an auditor serving a portfolio of clients from various industries, he began focusing exclusively on the financial sector in 2017. As an Associate Partner, he shares responsibility for managing Mazars’ Financial Services Audit department in Portugal.

Celso Fernandes He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, a postgraduate degree in Management—Strategy, and an Executive Master’s in Auditing. He has been a consultant at Mazars since 2000 and a Financial Advisory Manager since 2010. He has over 20 years of experience as a management consultant, having led projects across a wide range of industries, including apparel, financial services, construction, engineering, environmental services & waste management, energy, hospitality, food manufacturing, healthcare, regulatory agencies, and others, and for a variety of purposes.

Paulo Pereira He holds a degree in Auditing and a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting and Business Administration from ISCAL. He began his professional career in 1993, having held positions at various organizations, and has been with Mazars since 1998. He is currently responsible for managing work teams and a multidisciplinary client portfolio, and serves as the ROC (Registered Auditor) on various projects. He serves on Mazars“ functional committees, notably the ”Quality Control Committee,” and oversees the implementation of the ATLAS audit software. In 2021, he began serving as a member of the Training Committee of the Portuguese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.

Olivier Pilot Debienne He holds a bachelor’s degree in Auditing from ISCAL. He joined Mazars in 2004. Before returning to the Lisbon office, he worked at Mazars in Paris (Mazars Group Head Office) from 2006 to 2009, where he audited major international groups. He was part of the international team of deployment of the audit tool by the Mazars Group, having conducted several training sessions. He has significant experience in auditing international companies, including reporting to the parent company or for the purposes of a local audit opinion, as well as experience in IFRS and SOX, internal control, and risk management.

Pedro Cruz He holds a bachelor’s degree in Economics from FEP and a postgraduate degree in Taxation from ISAG. A member of the Mazars team since 2003, he has worked in a variety of areas: domestic and international M&A projects across various sectors; extensive experience leading various acquisition projects sell-side e buy-side; experience in auditing, corporate finance, and financial consolidation; independent business reviews for a variety of industries, primarily the service and manufacturing sectors; due diligenceSpecial-purpose accounting and auditing, particularly for assessments and validation in specific areas; a wide range of corporate development consulting services, including financial modeling, market attractiveness assessments, and due diligence; validation of national investment projects (managed by national agencies) and international investment projects (managed by the European Commission).

Ricardo Nunes He holds a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration from Universidade Portucalense. He joined Mazars in 2018 and has significant experience in auditing, accounting, finance, and taxation. He has coordinated audit and consulting engagements for entities in the industrial, commercial, real estate, agricultural, forestry, cooperative, and public sectors, among others. He also has experience in corporate finance projects and is proficient in the use of financial models. He has carried out work on due diligence, evaluation and implementation of internal control systems, preparation of consolidated financial statements, and reporting international. He is also a trainer in the fields of accounting and auditing.

Rute Pereira She holds a bachelor’s degree in Management from ISCTE – IUL, as well as an Executive Master’s in Management from INDEG – ISCTE. She began her career in 2006 as a Tax Assistant and, one year later, joined Mazars as an Assistant Auditor. She has gained significant experience in the areas of Auditing (Financial Services and Industry/Services), Accounting, and Taxation, both locally and internationally, participating in various audit engagements in Angola and Brazil. She is a member of the Training Committee of the Portuguese Institute of Certified Public Accountants.
