A key responsibility of professionals in this field is to manage communication across the organization’s entire communication ecosystem, seeking to strike a balance between the company’s interests and those of its various audiences and stakeholders.

Some of the functions of communication management include:

  • Research—The study of audience opinions and behavior in order to use this information to consider what can be done and to plan accordingly;
  • Advisory Services – Providing guidance to the organization’s various departments; recommending appropriate policies and positions regarding various audiences;
  • Coordinate – Guide teams and take on responsibilities to help facilitate clear communication;
  • Plan—Define in the present what you want in the future and monitor the entire planning process to ensure that your goal is achieved;
  • Execute – The production of communication programs and the various public relations tools used by companies to engage with their audiences
  • Evaluate – Use of tools that track and present the results of actions taken in order to provide numerical values.
