A Screen Printing & Related (S&A) - an innovative digital space for the promotion of artistic serigraphs, is now a contact channel between the main stakeholders in the sector and a publishing platform.
S&A has turned the platform it launched ten years ago into a space for presenting editions by visual artists, in a move to democratize access to channels for promoting and disseminating emerging national art. The artists Joaquim Canotilho, Margarida Guerra and Nair Leite Basto, with their most recent editions, join a catalog with nationally and internationally recognized names such as Árpád Szenes, Cruzeiro Seixas, João Cutileiro, José de Guimarães, Júlio Pomar, Maluda, Manuel Cargaleiro, Mário Cesariny, Nadir Afonso, Nikias Skapinakis or Paula Rego, among many others.
Based on the vast experience of its founders in marketing in various industries and in creating promotion strategies for the fine arts sector, the launch of this channel is the next logical step, as a space for direct contact between agents in the sector and enthusiasts of the screen printing technique - a format that had its golden age in the 1990s, which stagnated in 2000 and which, 30 years on, is experiencing a new lease of life.
“In 2015, the marketing of screen printing was stagnating due to low demand from the public, a weak value chain and a context made worse by the economic crisis at the time. When the first steps were being taken towards Digital and the discussion around transformation at this level began, we offered the market a new way of promoting the hundreds of screen-printed editions available, explains Joana Correia. The increase in online shopping, even in previously non-traditional areas, the use of these alternative communication channels and, more recently, the pandemic context, with the attribution of greater importance to spaces, together with an even greater democratization of online shopping, have been the great precursors of a new enthusiasm for screen printing and multiples., the co-founder of the platform.
