SKILLS VOLUNTEERING

Taking the opposite route, taking advantage of the skills she has already acquired as a professional, Marta Gonçalves, managing partner at SayU, contributes technical knowledge in the areas of marketing and communication for Médecins du Monde. “I advise the board on matters in my area of professional experience. It's a volunteer service that, together with so many other volunteers, contributes to increasing technical knowledge that Médecins du Monde wouldn't otherwise have access to.”, he explains.

A skills volunteering activity that, although challenging, she has integrated into her life: “It's part of who I am and I'm nothing more than a continuous ‘giving back’ to society. We'd all be better people if we stopped for a moment to look at our surroundings and understand how we can individually help to reduce inequality.”

This is an example of how to harness skills on a social level.
