  • New employees will join key business areas of the auditor and consultant
  • Integration at a time of new concerns and ambitions among professionals
  • Talent demands, innovation and sustainability at the heart of priorities
  • The goal is to continue to grow and ensure reference positioning

Lisbon, July 27Mazars is preparing to add nearly 60 people to its team by the end of 2023. The action is part of a sustained policy that ensures the ability to deliver and respond to multiple demands, from the point of view of customer requests and what is required by supervision, integrating new responses into a broader vision that Mazars aspires to.

The context is extremely challenging, with the transformation of the needs and objectives of a new generation of professionals entering the labor market and a consequent increased competition in the acquisition of talent. This recruitment focuses on profiles with experience in Mazars' business areas and opportunities are available at https://www.mazars.pt/Home/Carreiras.

Mazars' talent attraction and retention policy in Portugal is geared towards strategic global growth objectives for the firm's various business areas - Audit & Assurance, Outsourcing and Accounting, Financial Advisory, Tax, Consulting and Sustainability Services - and the global experience and possibility of evolution presented are the basis for people to choose to work at Mazars.

"The issue of talent management - in its attraction and retention dimensions - is one of the main challenges facing the market, as the trend among candidates is to reconcile their individual interests and personalities with their professional lives." recognizes Tatiana Teófilo, Human Resources Manager at Mazars in Portugal.

"Mazars has a wide range of content related to technical, personal and interpersonal skills for professional development, with close monitoring of individual needs and ambitions", adds Tatiana Teófilo, recalling that the company is constantly seeking to make its activity even more interesting and to be a better company for its employees.

Mazars' objective in Portugal is to be able to respond to concerns such as ensuring close monitoring of individual career management, which serves one does not necessarily serve the whole, or integration into projects with purpose and positive impact on society. Scrutiny of knowledge management, ethics and communication are criteria for choosing the projects to which potential employees want to be linked.

All these requirements arise in a context of growth, sustained in the training and development of the people who accompany Mazars on this journey, combined with the knowledge and understanding of the organization's purpose and identification with the way it integrates ESG responsibilities. In parallel, the approach to diversity and inclusion aims to increase competitive advantage in several dimensions, including attracting and retaining talent.

Boosting Talent

With regard to concrete actions to attract and retain talent, Mazars in Portugal has a hybrid work policy (50/50), with compensation for remote work, and has done increasing work on incorporating flexible compensation policies.

As a reinforcement of the concern for the balance and flexibility between the professional and personal lives of employees, and in addition to the flexible working hours policy, the company allocates seven additional days off, plus the anniversary day, to which is added the allocation of eight afternoons during two specific months. The policy de refer a friend (monetary compensation to employees who referred new employees), increase in the expense reimbursement ceiling, update of the meal allowance on a food card and health insurance reimbursed at 100% to all employees, with the possibility of including their family members are other actions.

From the perspective of empowering talent, Mazars in Portugal seeks to provide a path of continuous growth that allows to reinforce individual skills for the development of better professionals, more complete people and a more competitive market.

The commitment in this area also includes intense leadership training, with reflection on peer to peer, networking between colleagues and exchange of best practices. The pair develops training, coaching and inspiration with individual mentoring, personal reflection and self-development through the use of tools from self awareness, among other initiatives.

Strategic vision for the future of innovation and sustainability

Mazars' medium-term objective in Portugal is to continue to grow by double digits, adapting to the market, both in human resources and technology, and in new valences, guaranteeing a wide, diversified, professional and high quality service offer.

In this offer, we highlight the opening, about a year ago, of sustainability services. On the one hand, to be able to support its customers in their sustainable journey, and internally to be able to walk this path and define its purpose. At the base, the certainty that young talents are increasingly interested in these issues and want to work in companies that are responsible and contribute to a better world.

Mazars' strategic plan in Portugal, in line with the group's guidelines, has defined social responsibility policies for topics such as diversity, equity and inclusion, and concrete objectives towards a carbon neutral future. With sustainability services, the ambition is to actively contribute to the UN 2030 Agenda with internal measures for the benefit of employees, but also for customers.

The company is also a partner of dNovo, a non-profit association whose social purpose is the study, evaluation of measures, provision of services and intervention in the promotion of qualified senior professional activity in Portugal.

The implementation of a four-year strategic plan reinforces the intention to accelerate the transformation of Mazars in Portugal and strengthen its reference position in complementary dimensions: offering a different perspective in the areas of auditing, taxation and consulting; continue to improve the service provided through a wide range of solutions; and develop and enhance talent as a knowledge-intensive organization and school of excellence.
