Terceira Tech Island Welcomes KCS IT
In November, KCS iT opened an office in the Azores, from which it will develop technology for the domestic market and nearshore projects. This initiative arose from a local challenge and already includes the development of a digital transformation solution.
Lisbon, January 16, 2020 – On November 11, 2019, KCS iT opened an office at the Terceira Tech Island competence center, located in Praia da Vitória on Terceira Island, where it will develop technology for the domestic and international markets on a nearshore basis. KCS iT views the office as an opportunity for the future and aims to strengthen the position of this location through the arrival of new players and a local culture that supports and encourages innovation and entrepreneurship.
The Terceira Tech Island project has revitalized the island—and more specifically the Praia da Vitória region—in a way that only the Lajes Air Base had done before. The island is currently undergoing a career transition toward technology, aimed at the unemployed and young people entering the job market.
To date, eight people have been hired for the KCS iT office, seven of whom were trained on the island by Academia de Código, the training organization of Terceira Tech Island. There are plans to expand this team on a sustained basis, depending on emerging needs and the quality of the talent identified.

The KCS iT team in the Azores is currently developing a digital transformation platform that applies artificial intelligence to the financial sector.
The consulting firm’s growth in the domestic market is part of a plan for 2020 that sets goals to expand its existing client base, strengthen its presence in international markets, identify new demographic segments and sectors of operation, and focus on partnerships.
In addition to investing in Portugal and offering differentiating projects as a market affirmation strategy, KCS iT's goal this year is to grow in new areas, namely Digital Marketing and Communication, Business Intelligence, Nearshore Services, Development of Tailor-Made Solutions, Data Science & Analytics and Project Management | PMO.
