Velto Renewable Announces Partnership with Q Energy Solutions SE
Madrid (Spain) and Berlin (Germany), March 10, 2025 – Velto Renewables (“Velto”), an international renewable energy producer backed by the global investment group CDPQ, theannounced today a partnership agreement with Q Energy Solutions SE (“Q ENERGY”), a major player in the renewable energy in Europe, with the goal of acquiring from Q ENERGY, over the next few years, a portfolio of large-scale renewable energy projects in various European countries. As a first step, Velto has completed the acquisition of a portfolio of solar and wind projects with a total capacity of approximately 130 MW in France, and the partners expect to acquire 400 MW in Spain and Portugal in the coming weeks.
The initial portfolio consists of five projects currently under construction by Q ENERGY, all located in France:
- Two solar photovoltaic systems.
- Two wind power plants
- A floating solar farm, The Blandin Islets, considered the largest in Europe to use this technology. The facility is built on industrial reservoirs and features innovative technology for sustainable energy production
These five projects are expected to begin operating gradually between spring 2025 and early 2026. Once fully operational, these assets will generate more than 210,000 MWh per year—enough clean electricity to power more than 50,000 homes.
Lucas de Haro, CEO of Velto, said: “This investment, in partnership with Q ENERGY, is an important step toward Velto’s strategic growth. In addition to tripling our energy capacity, this development is in line with our vision to diversify our technological capabilities and expand our international presence in Europe.”
Junu Lee, CEO of Q ENERGY, added: “This important partnership with Velto, backed by a leading global infrastructure investor such as CDPQ, is a testament to Q ENERGY’s sustainability, innovation, and excellence in the field of renewable energy; it reinforces our position as a trusted leader in the sector, demonstrating that our high-quality solutions continue to attract top-tier partners who share our vision of a cleaner and more sustainable future.”
