Web Summit - Europe's biggest technology event

Founded in 2010 by Paddy Cosgrave and co-founders Daire Hickey and David Kelly, the Web Summit is one of the biggest events in the world. Technology, innovation and entrepreneurship are what you'll find at this conference. In less than six years it has grown from a team of just three people. Today it has more than 150 employees.
Europe's biggest technology event has always been sold out. Thousands of participants looking for a business opportunity are expected. What's more, some companies are coming again and consider the summit to be an open door for technology and internet-based businesses.
The government wants to use the Web Summit to sell a new image of Portugal. The Minister for the Economy hopes that this second edition in the Portuguese capital will also be a success. He also hopes it will help bring investment to the country.
“The Web Summit has contributed greatly to changing the image that Portugal has abroad (...) What we want is for this new image that is being created of Portugal in the world, which is making Portugal fashionable, which is putting Portugal on the map, to serve to bring more investment to Portugal, with qualified employment,” concluded Caldeira Cabral.
According to the Web Summit organizers, 60,000 people from all over the world are heading to Lisbon to take part in the various conferences. It will be “the largest gathering of CEOs in human history”. Those who haven't managed to secure a place at the Web Summit will be able to watch all the talks via Facebook. This way you can watch the various moments that will be broadcast live.
