Startup: Indie Campers

movers&shakers

As soon as you open the website, the spirit of adventure, freedom and, at the same time, the welcoming spirit that characterizes the family (as they very well identify) is clear. Indie Campers.

Who are they?

"We live to explore, to get lost and to discover. We do it for the stories, the rebellion and the magic of the unknown."

Whether we're discovering hidden beaches, venturing into the heart of forests or the cobbled paths of charming new towns, you'll find us out there. On the street. In the open air. Children of the sun, longing for the sea, we go with dirty feet and sunlight reflected on our faces. Nature is our home. With salt-and-pepper hair, warm smiles and freckles from the sun, we'll be out making friends, connecting and bringing together the wild souls scattered around like family. Playing guitar around the campfire and gazing at the stars until dawn breaks, saying goodbye to the moon. We are free.

What about you?"

That's right, they're freedom in van form. They are also very enterprising and have managed to go from 3 motorhomes to a fleet of over 350 vehicles in 4 years.

The journey and growth of Indie Campers:

The idea of building a small motorhome rental service was conceived by two friends, a Portuguese and an Austrian, in 2013. Today, in 2017, they are the largest motorhome rental company in Europe, operating in more than 70 locations (from Portugal to Spain, the Canary Islands, France, Corsica, Switzerland, Belgium, Italy, Sicily and Sardinia).

Considered a startup, Indie Campers' mission is to provide freedom of movement through a process of inspiring and connecting travelers around the world. They maintain their initial goal of restoring authenticity and adding a new dimension of adventure through excellent service and a memorable experience.

Factor(s) X

The company's differentiating factor, along with its good communication, lies in the range of services on offer. Renting an Indie Campers motorhome allows you to start your trip, for example, in Portugal and end it in Belgium. In other words, as long as you deliver the vehicle to one of the company's points of presence, everything is fine; there's no problem if you don't deliver it in exactly the same country where you rented it.

The startup also has a system for renting extras that allows you to customize your trip and make sure you never miss a thing. The extras range from WiFi, GPS, tables and chairs, barbecues, surfboards, bicycles and even kayaks.

Finally, it is also important to highlight the customer service, with a sales team that gives tips and shares the special places to visit and the right advice to make the most of your trip.
